Case Study 1

Case Study 1

I have always suffered from anxiety ever since I had my children I think it started from postnatal depression, but as they started to get older I found myself panicking about every little thing, so much that I used to interfere in their lives trying to help them in teenage situations but all I did was made matters worse for them.

I went to my doctors and they suggested anti-depressants which I have been on ever since, and I am scared to stop taking them because I still suffer anxiety attacks, and I feel they would be ten times worse if I wasn’t taking them.

The girls were horrible to Lucy I lost my appetite and couldn’t sleep.  It got so bad that I didn’t want them to leave the house unless it was with me as I always thought the worst; if they were late I used to believe that something bad had happened to them.

So I tried counselling to see if it could help, as the anxiety was taking over my life it was affecting me so much that I didn’t do or go anywhere as I just wanted to be in the house for the children just in case.  It had turned me into a control freak, I started to control who they went out with, as I wanted to protect them from getting hurt.

I thought as they got older I would stop worrying but it just seemed to go from bad to worse…

I no longer could control when and who they were going out with, all I wanted was for them to have a stress-free happy life…

Was that too much to ask?

I would text them and call them all the time, and panic if they didn’t reply straight away, as I knew they always had their phone on them.  I was having nightmares and waking up at ridiculous times through the night panicking and then not being able to get back to sleep.

It was draining me emotionally and physically but I didn’t let the children know how worried I was because I was scared they wouldn’t tell me anything or have anyone to talk to.  It started to affect me when going on holiday, I would panic about the flight and then being in a different country to the point where I couldn’t sleep…it was crazy, you go on holiday to have a break but all it did was made me more anxious.

Last year when on holiday we met friends and got talking about our children and the trials and tribulations they go through and we do as parents, they explained their youngest child suffered from anxiety and had just worked with a fantastic company that wrote him a personalised strategy, and they were raving about how amazing it is, and how he is like a changed boy…. they feel as if they have their little boy back now.

This intrigued me, so I asked for the contact details of the company If they can help Will maybe they could help me…once I returned home I contacted AJ at The Coping Specialist and arranged a consultation.

and I’ve never looked back, within a week I could see a change, I started to feel less stressed, I didn’t feel the urge to text or call the children all the time, or panic if they didn’t text me straight back.  I started to see the positive things in life rather than always being negative.  I began to live again all thanks to The Coping Specialists’ personalised strategy.  Even when life throws me a challenge I have the coping strategy to be able to deal with it.

It is unbelievable all these years I have struggled so badly, I can’t believe it, I feel like I did before I had the children, the happy-go-lucky woman I used to be.

I cannot recommend The Coping Specialist enough they have transformed my life completely and now I no longer require or depend on anti-depressants.
